Harvard Beets

Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. cider vinegar
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 4 tsps. arrowroot
  • 1/2 tsp orange peel
  • 1/8 tsp cloves
  • 1 tbs butter or margarine
  • 1 can beets, reserve juice

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, add beet juice. Stir in the remaining ingredients except the beets.
  2. Bring to a boil, and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the beets and cook until heated through over low heat.
  4. Stir in butter or margarine.
  5. Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper.
